Fingerprint Door locks - The Biometric Future Is Here!

Sci-fi movies take years if not decades to come true... if ever. But if you've dreamed of walking up to the front door of your home and unlocking it in a second with just the touch of your finger, then your dream has come true already - all thanks to biometric technology.

Never Lose Your Keys!
Until I tried one of the fingerprint door locks from one of my book keeping clients (Finger Access - Fingerprint Door Locks) who import, distribute and wholesale a full range of home security devices, I didn't realise how high tech and secure these were, yet so simple.

There are many different types, and buyer-beware, not all of them are secure. Unfortunately the relative ease of importing electronic goods from Asia has made some people think they are home security experts all of a sudden. But not all digital door locks are safe. What gives me confidence with the one we use is that the boys at Finger Access aren't computer nerds who've bought a container load and have started flogging them off on ebay... They are tradesmen who've tested each of these to their professional satisfaction and offer a full installation service as well. They stake their name on their product and are happy to take the time answering any questions you might have.

Their success at various Home Shows around Australia this year is testimony that they know the game and are one step ahead of cheap security threats to your home, so don't be fooled by 'bargains' that could cost you your security.

Installation
The other consideration of course, is ease of installation. If it's not easy, I'm not doing it. But I had mine installed literally in under 10 minutes... before my wife could come home from the corner shop. The funny thing is she couldn't have been locked out because we had already saved her fingerprint in the lock and she could just walk right in!

The only shock is the first time you walk out the door without your keys in your pocket and get that sinking feeling as you hear it click behind you... - NOT LOCKED OUT! Just use your finger print to get back in!

Again, beware the discount fingerprint door locks - the one we got fits right into the existing in the door. That's what makes it so easy to fit, whether or not you're a tradesman (apparently carpenters call it retro-fitting).

Features
- There are different types of readers (basically swipe or press) so dirty hands or smooth fingers (if you've worn your fingers to the bone like me...) aren't a problem.
- Some locks have memory for 100's of different fingerprints, but you wouldn't use that many unless you're in an office or motel or school or something.
- We got one with a backup key and PIN-code as well, so while we are away we can let the in-laws in and change the PIN when we get back!
- The key is dimple cut so that it's 'bump proof' - but for me the greatest confidence that gave was that the manufacturer is obviously at the front of security technology.
- If you have a favorite gold door handle or something installed that's not a problem as there are deadlock versions available as well - keep your existing door handle.

Now all I need is one for the fridge, the TV cabinet, and my wallet!!

A brand new father working from home, he rocks his son to sleep with one hand while typing with the other. His many happy clients include Finger Access, but clearly his real talent is in impromptu How-To TV interviews when he was asked about Fingerprint Door Locks on the How-To channel!!
