More often than not, you find yourself in desperate need to learn how to tie a tie because you need to show up for a job interview. If you are short of time, a Windsor knot will solve the problem for you. You know all too well that the way you project yourself in a job interview is very important. Creating an impression of confidence will create a big impact on the outcome of your interview. You can increase your chances by putting on a tie with the perfect Windsor knot on it.

Knowing how to tie a tie in a Windsor knot will achieve the professional and determined look for you. A knot of this type is thick, triangular shaped, wide and generally used for many occasions. In fact, once you learn how to tie a tie with a Windsor knot, you can get by using this throughout all your professional life.

However, while it is true that knowing how to tie a tie properly is vital to your job interview attire, you should also put equal importance to your overall appearance as well. You should understand that your entire interview attire should still be the standard expected by most companies. Here are some ideas on how you should dress for a job interview:
• Wear a conservative, two piece black or dark grey business suit.
• Put on a white long sleeved shirt that has been pressed neatly and has a good fit on you.
• Go for a tie that is not distracting, preferably plain in colour. Dark blue or dark red ties that are made of silk are highly recommended.
• You can go for tie accessories such as a silver tie bar to make sure that your tie is held firmly in place all throughout the interview.
• Polished and clean dress shoes look best with your suit. Make sure that you wear dark socks (black preferred) underneath.
• The belt you wear should ideally match your shoe colour. Black belts are most recommended.

Aside from knowing how to tie a tie well and knowing what to wear, it is important that your general appearance looks pleasing. Go for a well groomed hairstyle, a shaved off beard and trimmed moustache. Make sure that your fingernails are clean and well-trimmed. Miss out on those rings (other than your wedding or college ring), earrings and piercing. Keep your perfume and cologne to a minimum, but make sure that you smell pleasant enough; and yes, get some mint candy right before the interview. Do not forget to take along a briefcase with a notebook and a pen to take down notes when necessary.

Preparing for an interview takes quite some time, and it is obvious how you should exert some amount of effort to look your best in an interview. Remember that you will be attending an interview for your own bright future. A little effort now will be all worth it. For now, put on your best suit, know how to tie your tie in a Windsor knot very well, smile and be confident.
